I don't know where to go, what's the right team I want my own thing, so bad I'm gonna scream Monday, January 11 @ Monday, January 11, 2010
I don't think its a very good omen if I return home at 8pm on the first day of school, no? Only memorable thing about today was the HP welcome talk and HSC meeting. Now I actually realise the kind of opportunities I have that the school offers. There's so much jumping out suddenly now that we're sec4, so many academic attachments to this and that, that you don't know which to choose. Its our last year here, and I think I've pretty much made my choices as to the main commitments I have this year. How do I decide, then, what else I want? There're so many opportunities out there. Law firm attachment, for example. Or Humanities Symposium, though I already missed that one. And how many more do I have to miss, or do I push my limits and go for it? Funny how a simple 1 hour talk can get me so freaking confused. At this stage if you make the wrong choice you're screwed. I have to think. I need to think. And HSC. Just one of my major commitments this year. To be honest I've never acknowledged how privileged I am to be part of HSC. The seniors talk really woke a lot of us up, I feel. From the outburst to the sharing, I've come to realise that sec3 was one thing, SLC was good, it was big, but that was just one event, one milestone. Come HSC, its a whole different ball game. And its more serious than what I've ever experienced. I don't usually question the amount of stress I'm under. I simply try to deal with it. But now more than ever I'm forced to ask myself whether I'm actually deserving of the privileges I'm accorded, such that I have to undergo this stress. Because if I don't live up to expectations, the team suffers. Nobody wants to be a deadweight to the entire council, yet nobody wants anyone else to be a deadweight either. I think I need to be more sober about the choices I make. Now we're in long pants, its the very last lap of our life in high school, what kind of difference can we make. That's the question. P.S. Thanks, Yichen. You did more than you know (: Tuesday, January 5 @ Tuesday, January 05, 2010
Training in the morning today, freaking exhausting, period. It'd have been okay if it wasn't for the punishment -.- Anyway afterwards Brandon and I went to Coro to buy lunch for like, 24 canoeists before heading to school to help out in CCA orientation. And I must say the bubble tea selection in Coro is wide. o.o Maybe one of my new year resolutions should be to drink all the different flavours. :D I didn't spend that much time at CCA orientation to be honest. I was busy walking around trying to tekan sec1s into cheering. Makes me feel really nostalgic about those times when I was just a confused freshman following my buddy. And the OT did a really good job this time round, from what I could see. Everyone was ahead of time instead of behind time. During the introduction to canoeing Nick messed around like nobody's business. HAHA. Hopefully nick you don't see this. But I hope we managed to convince a few secones into joining us. :D Its not all propaganda y'know. Some are really true. Like how the cca helps you achieve success in life, etc. Going back to school again tomorrow for the last day of orientation. Anyone with me? :D Thursday, December 31 @ Thursday, December 31, 2009
2010 HELLO 2010. Its a weird feeling. Seemingly its the same as all the past years where I'd just sleep the night through and wake up in a new year. But this year its way different because I actually bothered to countdown for once, with BSC people. And the gathering was totally madddd. I'm rather lazy + tired to talk about all of what happened, but Zhou got drunk (LOSER HAHA) and others like Ernest got roped in. Luckily none of the canoeists drank except our dear captain - we're always the guai ones hahaha. But I still felt tired throughout. Its been a long time since we ate highly spiced yangrouchuan, or simply sat around and crapped like there were no worries in the world. Which, in the last day of 2009, I suppose its true to some extent. Fireworks@Esplanade was superb. Although the crowds were kind of heavy it was still bearable. And we got a great view of the fireworks and there were scammers all around whooping before anything started. I never saw the new year fireworks before (call me a loser haha) and so I can't judge these based on any precedents, but it was pretty cool. :D Except that I was seriously tired so the extent of appreciation didn't go that far. Yup and now I'm home. Now that I'm sitting down I no longer feel so tired. And its been a day of reflection as well. I guess people will think stuff like "how I've made a difference to the world", "how I've contributed to this or that", or even "how I've become a better person", but I'm not really in the habit haha. I just think about what happened in 2009 that affected me in various ways. SLC, for one. Totally unforgettable. I mean what else can I say about 2009; its just a usual year of ups and downs, you make friends, you (hopefully not) lose friends, you understand more, you learn more, you reflect more. What we gain isn't some terrific increase in worldly knowledge but rather just life experience that allows you to look at the same thing in a whole different perspective in years to come. And I think that's the best thing about aging and moving on in years. And certainly there's nostalgia about the good things that happened in 2009, but there's loads of things in 2010 too. Advisorship for one. :D And simply being a senior of the school in freaking long pants, that's momentous enough. And on another note I'm glad they replaced the school uniform with a lighter, cooler material. So we won't have to suffer from now on yay. Can't find anything much to say, really. Welcome to 2010 people! :D Sunday, December 27 @ Sunday, December 27, 2009
like arrows from above I seem to remember resolving at the start of holidays that I'll get started in advance for ACE projects. Well oops. Yongda assures me that next year ACE will be cake, but I'm still feeling kind of worried. Should probably start on some IH stuff soon. Especially cuz holidays are ending soon (1 week later than all you people :D) and the last week is packed with stuff like MUN meetings and random MUN courses. Training was intense, but I feel myself improving :D so its okay. Should I go for tomorrow though hmmm. Saturday, December 19 @ Saturday, December 19, 2009
I feel like a random update. A few days before I was watching the Avatar trailer like, twice an hour cuz it looked so good. Then on thursday I went to watch it with Yichen, Chermain and Steph after a failed discussion (haha). Anyway the movie was pretty epic, great CG effects. Though like reviews said, the plot was predictable, but it was good nonetheless. Amazing how they make the Na'vi look similar to the characters' human faces (: Can't think of much more to talk about. Hmm. Tuesday, December 15 @ Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Fever ahhh. Today apparently my mum was trying to shake me awake around 8am, so that I could go for training. Apparently I told her I was going, but I have no recollection of that. I remained unconscious till about 9.40am when my dad woke me up and handed me a cup of salt solution to "cool myself down". I was sweating. My temperature was higher than normal but still not within the fever range, so I guess I had a slight fever before. Idk why but since Beijing I've become more vulnerable to fevers. :/ Before BSC I hadn't had a fever in like, years. Literally. Now I feel kind of jelly like, like my legs will fold up any minute. Conked out during the afternoon for like 3 hours in total on my mum's bed, my bed and at my desk. HAHA. Now I hope I can go for makeup training tomorrow. Had to pon today's training and I'm going to skip thursday's too for HSC meeting. I think a very good way of taking stock of my body is simply to see whether my legs are jellylike. If they are, no go. Friday, December 11 @ Friday, December 11, 2009
may her perky boobs give her backache by thirty Catchy chapter title from Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger. :D Outing today again. Yiliang and I left from training to meet the others (Yangxi, DK, Nick etc) and we went to this Jap restaurant for a buffet lunch. I think I haven't been to a buffet for too long already. I forgot what its like. We'd be like thinking how much we have to order, then Songyang or someone would remind me that its buffet. So just spam. HAHA. Yangxi's table got like 5 plates of everything. And the best part is they managed to finish almost everything. My table read the fine print though, that "all food wastage will be charged ala carte". At first we were like wtf, cuz we ordered like 6 bowls of noodles plus loads of miscellanous stuff. Fortunately the noodles came in tiny portions and we devised ingenious ways of hiding our wasted food. Like we'd hide the leftover sushi in between stacked sushi plates. And other ways of disposing food by covering it with bowls. Check fb for videos. Oh and the most epic one has to be the sushi swapping. We could get our sushi from a conveyer belt, all charged under our buffet expenses. There were different colours of plates, but we weren't allowed to take the red plates as they cost $1.80 per plate (wtf.) So we didn't. But Edwin and Danny came late and Danny went to take two red plates. So our smartass idea was the swap the plates with some from the table behind us whose plates hadn't been cleared yet. HAHAHA. Ahh now I'm confined at home until like christmas or something. Christmas party/New Year's Eve anyone? Tuesday, December 8 @ Tuesday, December 08, 2009
drenched in vanilla twilight First training today since returning from BSC. It wasn't as bad as I expected, but still rather bad. I lost all power I had before exams (not that I had a lot anyway), and I can't manage a sustained starting burst. But the worst part isn't the water program, its the land training. Lets just say that if they continue this program, at the end of december my legs will either be in top form or in two pieces. Well they already are in two but at least they're still attached. I feel like pigging out right after lunch, but that'll mean I'll be fully nocturnal tonight and I'll get blasted by my dad again, which isn't really worth it. Need to get my school books soon! I plan to finish up the lit texts before school starts, and do some basic understanding first. Have to be on top of lit this time round. Maybe I'll get together with some of the guys to mug chem in advance. But I have to admit, its hard to find people with chem standards as low as mine. And let's not talk about math then. Christmas lights tomorrow! (: Sunday, December 6 @ Sunday, December 06, 2009
I miss the late nights.
Life's slowly settling back to normal. At least the essence of familiarity is back in here. Last night DK invited me into a mass convo and promptly ordered me to do saikang. Thanks man -.- But at least it's what I'm used to. And hence I'm happy to do it. Does that make sense? Trainings start tomorrow, monday to wednesday, plus fridays thrown in. Hopefully the BSC canoeists haven't fallen back that much. I'm getting the motivation to train again (: Right now I'm mass downloading the 2008 billboard top 100 hits for no real reason, because my laptop charger is screwed and my laptop battery is flat out and I can't upload pics. Anyone organising any outing soon? :D |
